Welcome to my new and much improved (thanks to master graphic artist/web
designer Bret Haines) website. As many of my friends and readers know, it's
been awhile since I've had a new novel out. It's not so much that I haven't
been writing; it's more that life's taken a few unexpected twists and turns
the past few years. I've gotten married and started a family (two incredibly
beautiful daughters), gone off and gotten a Master of Fine Arts degree in
writing (from the incredible Southampton
College graduate writing program), and taken up teaching full-time, at
the Watkins Film School in Nashville.
But once novel-writing gets in your bones, it's hard to get it out. And the
truth is, By Blood Written is a book that I started about five
years ago. I wrote about half the book and an extended synopsis, then gave
it to my agent and no publisher in New York would touch it. It was too edgy,
too out-there, and it took the brave folks at Severn House to finally bring
this book into print.
